From the Manufacturer
Kit Carson, designer of the M16® Series, became famous for his titanium frame M16 customs. True to Kit's custom design in all details, the production M16T models have been taken a step further with the addition of our exclusive patented* AutoLAWKS™ safety, which automatically turns the folders into virtual fixed blades when the blade is opened and locked. The handles, which form the open-build frame, are CNC machined from 6AL4V titanium. The result is a better strength-to-weight ratio than steel or aluminum, and an almost indestructible frame. The titanium frame is minimally ceramic bead-blast finished to enhance grip. The single 420J2 stainless steel locking liner with friction grooves provides positive locking. The blade is AUS 8 stainless steel, chosen for edge retention and durability, in non-reflective fine bead blast finish, with a Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point™ Serrated edge. This steel can handle the most rugged cutting tasks and still be field sharpened. Of course, it also features the signature "Carson Flipper" extension to the blade, which aids opening and acts as an additional blade guard. The "Big Dog" M16®-14T is a hefty, full-size working knife with a dual grind modified Tanto-style blade. One-hand opening and closing is quick and smooth, the result of lubrous washers at the blade pivot. The ambidextrous thumb stud with checkered surface provides instant access in any circumstance. It features a removable stainless steel clothing/gear clip. Faithful replicas. Premium quality. Precise. Smooth. Amazing value for those who want the ultimate M16. Kit Carson still marvels at how well our production titaniums compare to his customs. *U.S. Patent Nos. 5,596,808 and 7,437,822

If you're looking for a big knife, this is the one. The M16 Big Dog is a high quality knife that rivals any other, from the Carson flipper to the AutoLAWKS saftey. By far the best knife I have ever owned. Rick

To start, I bought the CRKT M-16 Tanto with Titanium handle almost eight years ago for about fifty bucks, aboard Camp Fallujah in Iraq. I like the way it looked, and I really prefer the Tanto blade over any other. That said, this knife has been literally everywhere with me (to exclude airports, for obvious reasons) and has performed better than any other knife I have owned. It has been on ships in the Med with me, in the sands of Iraq, the training grounds of Camp Lejeune, and everywhere in between. This knife is worth the money, and if you take care of it, it will take care of you. Mine looks almost brand new, and has been used for everything from turning screws, to opening MRE's, to cutting everything from copper wire, to rope. I currently carry it with me everywhere, even to school. Its not too big to carry around discretely, and it is not so small that it cannot do big knife jobs. If you plan on using it to split wood, you are not gonna have a nice day, but if you need a general purpose, rugged use blade, this is it. When I have the money to drop $90 on another one, I will. best folding knife I have ever used, hands down.

By Steven
I've owned this knife for a over a year, it is not cheap feeling or heavy in weight. It is easily carried and easy to deploy one handed without hang ups or excessive tension or lack of tension issues. The knife is rounded in all areas except the finger guard so it does not hang up on anything or have rough edges that dig into you. You can clip it inside jogging shorts and jog without it shaking off or opening due to the clip construction and blade retention characteristics.
The blade came very sharp and is easy to maintain. Some people may find the blade too soft, but I like it for a fine edge and sharpness factor. The safety automatically engages when the blade is deployed to lock it into a secure state of use. There are 2 safety's: 1 main spring lever against the blade, 1 spring activated secondary to add a lock check to the main lever safety making it very secure in locking tension. It is very easy to deploy one handed with no tension issues.
It costs under a $100 and well built and came with a hex wrench. This allows you to tension the hex bolts holding the clip on the knife metal handles if they should come lose.
I took locktite and applied it to the threads on the hex bolts. I have not had any issues of movement or a loose clip due to this. There are other less expensive models to this knife that I also own. It is a good knife design for a production knife.
The Titanium model is thinner than the composite grip models.
